my short essays
I have a new web site,
or you can go straight to the zine page at
These are slightly edited versions of my paper zines (which are all still available). My style in these writings is to start out talking about my personal life and then veer off into deep thinking about all kinds of stuff -- metaphysics or the end of civilization or how to live a good life. I think on the fly, and I enjoy shifting myself through many contradicting perspectives. Take a look!
Superweed 1 part 1
Superweed 1 part 2
Written December 1997 - May 1998. More varied and erratic than the others. I avoid jobs, tell a fairy tale, describe my middle school teachers, condemn utopia, wrestle with new age stuff, and stumble around trying to change my life.
Superweed 2 part 1
Superweed 2 part 2
Written October 1998 - March 1999. The road trip issue. I think this is my weakest zine, and the one where I look the worst. I drive around the USA living in my car and looking for a good place to live, and along with the usual subjects, I talk a lot about trying to make life decisions when I don't know what I'm doing.
Superweed 3 part 1
Superweed 3 part 2
Written May 1999 - February 2000. Recommended. I get a copy clerk job and get focused on tracing the roots of our enslavement -- rent, wage labor, social mobility, property. I discuss Fight Club and go to the Seattle WTO protest.
Civilization Will Eat Itself part 1
Civilization Will Eat Itself part 2
Civilization Will Eat Itself part 3
Written March 2000 - May 2001. My best zine. Here I get even more focused and generate one long meditation about the non-neutrality of technology, the structure and rules of murderous systems, the roots of evil, and alternate stories about the meaning of civilization.
Superweed 4 part 1
Superweed 4 part 2
Written May 2002 - February 2003. I'm past my peak here, but still have some good ideas, kind of like the fifth season of the X-files. I go on a wilderness bike trip, think more about the post-civilized future, rant about the futility of trying to save the world, play computer games, and squat an abandoned shed.
